# Unrecognized charge from Fourthwall on your statement

Every Fourthwall purchase appears on your bank or card statement as `FW * <shop name>`. The charge is tied to a real order, tip, or membership from a creator's shop. Follow these steps to identify the shop before contacting your bank.

## Step 1: Check the statement descriptor

Fourthwall charges always start with `FW * ` followed by the creator's shop name. Look at the line item on your bank or card statement to find the shop name after the prefix.

For example, a charge from a shop called "Acme Merch" appears as:

`FW * Acme Merch`

The shop name after `FW * ` identifies the creator whose product, membership, or tip you paid for. Bank statement descriptors are limited to 22 characters total, so longer shop names may be truncated, but the visible portion is usually enough to identify the shop.

## Step 2: Search your email for a receipt

Every Fourthwall purchase triggers a receipt sent to the email address used at checkout. Search your email inbox for messages from `@fourthwall.com`.

In your inbox, search for:

- `fourthwall.com`
- The amount of the charge
- The date of the charge

The receipt confirms the shop name, what was purchased, and the order number. If you use multiple email addresses, check each one — the receipt goes to the email used at checkout, which may not be your primary address.

## Step 3: Email Fourthwall support

If neither the statement nor your inbox identifies the shop, contact [support@fourthwall.com](mailto:support@fourthwall.com). Include:

- The amount of the charge
- The date of the charge
- The last four digits of the card charged
- Any other email addresses you may have used at checkout

The support team can look up the order and tell you which shop the charge came from.

## A bank dispute should be your last resort

Filing a chargeback before identifying the shop creates extra work for the creator and may pause their payouts. Once you know the shop, you can ask the creator directly for a refund or work with Fourthwall support to resolve the issue.

Only open a dispute with your bank after Steps 1, 2, and 3 have not identified the charge.

## Frequently asked questions

### What does FW stand for on my statement?

`FW` is short for Fourthwall. Every charge processed through Fourthwall uses the prefix `FW * ` followed by the shop name of the creator you bought from.

### Why is the shop name cut off?

Bank statement descriptors are limited to 22 characters total, including the `FW * ` prefix. Shop names with more than 17 characters get truncated, but the visible portion is usually enough to identify the shop.

### I don't recognize the shop name. What now?

Search your email for a Fourthwall receipt. If you still can't identify the purchase, email [support@fourthwall.com](mailto:support@fourthwall.com) with the charge details and any email addresses you may have used.

### Can I get a refund through Fourthwall?

Refunds are handled by the creator's shop you purchased from. Once you identify the shop, reach out to the creator or contact Fourthwall support for help routing your request.
