# Understanding Order IDs: Order ID, Fulfillment ID, and Tracking Number

A Fourthwall order can carry three different identifiers: the 8-character Order ID, the Fulfillment ID, and the carrier tracking number. Share the 8-character Order ID from the dashboard when contacting Fourthwall support, because it is the identifier support uses to look up an order.

## What are the three identifiers on a Fourthwall order?

Each identifier does a different job.

- **Order ID**. An 8-character alphanumeric code, for example `4W5J3CGA`. It appears in the creator dashboard and on the customer order-status page. It is the canonical reference Fourthwall support uses to look up an order.
- **Fulfillment ID**. A string with a `ful_` prefix, for example `ful_RX0o5B0HR5GO2JOZkTORUQ`. It appears on the packing slip, where it is sometimes labeled "Order ID". The production partner uses it to identify the fulfillment. It is NOT what Fourthwall support searches by.
- **Carrier tracking number**. A carrier-specific code, for example `DPD 05757999377671`. It appears in the shipping confirmation email and on the carrier site. It is used to track the shipment with the carrier.

## What is the Order ID?

The Order ID is an 8-character alphanumeric code such as `4W5J3CGA`. It is the identifier at the top of every order in the [**Orders**](https://my-shop.fourthwall.com/admin/dashboard/contributions/orders/?redirect) page in the creator dashboard. Customers see the same code on their order-status page after checkout.

Fourthwall support uses the Order ID to look up an order. Share this code whenever contacting support about a specific order.

## What is the carrier tracking number?

The tracking number is a separate identifier issued by the shipping carrier, for example `DPD 05757999377671`. It only tracks the physical shipment with the carrier. It is NOT tied to looking up an order in Fourthwall.

Use the tracking number to check the package's location with the carrier directly. For order changes, refunds, or support questions, use the 8-character Order ID instead.

## Which ID should I send to support?

Send the 8-character Order ID from the creator dashboard. It is the fastest way for the Fourthwall support team to find the order.

## Can Fourthwall find an order from the long ID on the packing slip?

Yes. Fourthwall can match the Fulfillment ID (the long `ful_` string labeled "Order ID" on the packing slip) back to an order. Lookup is faster when the 8-character Order ID from the dashboard is included as well.

## Why is the Fulfillment ID labeled "Order ID" on the packing slip?

The packing slip label is intended for the production partner who fulfills the order, not for support lookups. The Fulfillment ID is what the partner uses on their side, which is why it is the most prominent code on the slip.

## Is the tracking number the same as the Order ID?

No. The tracking number is issued by the carrier (DPD, USPS, DHL, and so on) and only tracks the shipment. It cannot be used to look up the order in the Fourthwall dashboard.
