Facebook and Instagram Shopping - Set Up Guide

Meta now allows you to link products directly in your own Facebook Shop and/or Instagram shop, making it easier for supporters to purchase your product directly through the respective apps.

Facebook and Instagram Shop Requirements

Before you can start selling via Facebook and Instagram Shop, you need to ensure you have set up a Facebook Business Manager that's connected to your Facebook page and has you in an admin role for the Business Manager. You can learn more about Business Manager in the Facebook Ads Help Center.

Fourthwall Requirements for Facebook and Instagram Shop

There are a few requirements on your Fourthwall site in order to install the Facebook and Instagram Shop app:

  • You need to have a credit card on file on your Fourthwall site - this is required to cover the costs of orders placed via Facebook/Instagram Shop. The revenue from those orders is paid directly to you by Facebook
  • Your Fourthwall site needs to be live, and products you wish to showcase in your Facebook/Instagram Shop must not be hidden

Limitations for the Current Version of this App

The current version of this app has a few limitations. We're always updating and improving, so we expect to reduce these limitations in the future.

  • At the moment, Self-fulfilled products are not eligible for Facebook/Instagram Shop.
  • Orders can take up to 1 hour to appear in your Fourthwall dashboard. This is expected to decrease as Meta extends API rates.
  • If you want to cancel an order, please do so via your Fourthwall dashboard and not in your Facebook Business Manager account. If you do it via Facebook, there's a delay, which could impact the cancelation timeline. If done directly in your Fourthwall dashboard, there's no delay.

Installing Facebook and Instagram Shop App

Setting up Facebook and Instagram Shop is simple, although it takes a bit longer than other app integrations. We’ll go through it step by step, making it as easy as possible!

Note: you will see throughout this help article mentioned Facebook Commerce, Facebook Page, Facebook Shop. This includes Instagram as long as you have it all integrated under the same account in Meta. Everything is managed on Facebook Commerce for both Facebook and Instagram.

Step 1 - Create your Shop on Facebook Commerce

1. Go to Create your shop on Facebook Commerce Manager (You must be logged in and have access to Business Manager)

3. Now, you will select which Facebook Page you want to sell from. You should see your Facebook Pages that are linked with the Meta account you logged in with. If you want to sell from a new Facebook Page, you can create it by clicking on "Create a new Facebook Page." Once you select the page you want to sell from, click next.

5. Set a default shipping profile. Please note that this will be overwritten via API to properly send dynamic shipping costs via Fourthwall's integration. However, you still have to complete this default shipping profile. You are going to leave almost everything as it shows by default, except the following items:

  • Address types - make sure all options are selected

  • Handling time and Standard shipping - make sure handling time says 4 days. Second, you are going to turn on Standard shipping - no need to add any details there, and you can leave it as is.

  • Contact information for customers - here, you will add your shop customer support email. To find your support email go to your site and add "/pages/contact" to the end of your URL to find the page with your unique shop support email. Once you complete this, click next.

Step 3 - Setting Up Customer Support

It is critical that you set up customer support on your Facebook shop so we can handle your customer support just like with your direct site purchases. If this is not set up, supporters will contact you directly, and you will need to handle support directly with supporters.

1. Within the Instagram & Facebook Shop app page of your Fourthwall dashboard, go to the Customer support section and click "Set up customer support".

2. That will pop up a screen with details you will need to set up your customer support in Facebook Commerce. You want to click on "Open Meta Commerce Manager Settings" which will take you to your Facebook Commerce Manager settings page.

Screenshot 2024-07-17 at 5.49.31 PM.png

3. Once you are on the Facebook Commerce Manager settings page, you want to go to "Shop contact information" in the bottom option and click "Edit".

Screenshot 2024-07-17 at 5.53.38 PM.png

4. In the pop-up screen, you will see fields to enter your shop contact email, your website, and turn on/off Allow messaging. Here, you will need to copy the fields from your Fourthwall dashboard in Step 2, paste them into their respective fields, and click save. You can leave the phone number blank, as this is optional.

Note: It's important here to make sure the Allow messaging is turned off so it directs supporters to your unique shop contact email.
