# Add Google Analytics to Your Site

Connect Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to your Fourthwall site by pasting your Measurement ID into the Tracking Pixels section of your Analytics dashboard. Once connected, GA4 automatically tracks page visits, traffic sources, and e-commerce conversion events.

## Prerequisites

Before starting, make sure you have:

- A **Google Analytics 4 (GA4)** account
- A GA4 property created for your site
- A **Web Data Stream** created for your domain
- Your **Measurement ID** (format: G-XXXXXXX)

If you are new to GA4, follow Google's [guide to setting up GA4](https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/9304153) to create a property and generate your Measurement ID.

## Step 1. Find your GA4 Measurement ID

1. Sign in to [Google Analytics](https://analytics.google.com/).
2. In the Admin section, select the correct GA4 property.
3. Under **Data Streams**, click into your Web stream.
4. Copy your **Measurement ID** (starts with G-).
## Step 2. Add Google Analytics to your Fourthwall site

1. Go to your [Fourthwall Dashboard](https://my-shop.fourthwall.com/admin/dashboard?redirect).
2. Navigate to **Analytics**, click the **...** menu, and select **Tracking pixels**.
3. Paste your GA4 Measurement ID into the **Google Analytics 4 Tracking ID** field.
4. Click **Save**.

After saving, Google Analytics begins tracking site and e-commerce events automatically. Data may take a few minutes to appear in your GA4 dashboard.
## Step 3. Connect Fourthwall with GA4

1. Return to the [Analytics](https://my-shop.fourthwall.com/admin/dashboard/analytics/?redirect) tab.
2. In the Overview section, click **Connect for free** and follow the prompts to link your Google Analytics account with Fourthwall.

Once connected, you can click **View Google Analytics** directly from your Fourthwall analytics dashboard to open your GA4 property and review traffic, sessions, and conversion data.
## Troubleshooting & Common Issues

**Problem:** No data is appearing in Google Analytics after connecting.
**Solution:** Wait at least 10 minutes after adding the Measurement ID — GA4 data is not instant. Also verify the Measurement ID starts with "G-" and was entered without extra spaces. Visit your site while GA4's Realtime report is open to confirm events are being received.

**Problem:** My Measurement ID starts with "UA-" instead of "G-".
**Solution:** Universal Analytics (UA) properties have been deprecated by Google. You need to create a new GA4 property and use its Measurement ID (G-XXXXXXX format). Fourthwall supports GA4 only.

**Problem:** I am not seeing e-commerce conversion events in GA4.
**Solution:** After adding the Measurement ID, complete a test purchase on your shop to generate conversion events. Check the GA4 Events report to confirm purchase events are being received.
