How to add HTML and unique code to your theme

You can make your site even more unique by adding custom HTML to your theme. In addition, you can also use custom HTML to add a Spotify player on your site, a Twitter/X feed, embed a Google Maps location and so much more!

To start, go to your dashboard and then to Site design

Adding custom code throughout your whole site

From the site design menu, you can select the Edit code (advanced) option at the bottom to add code throughout your site.  For adding code only to a specific page, continue to the next section of this help article.

Once you select the Edit code (advanced), it will take you to the screen where you can add your custom code with options for head code and footer code.

Adding custom code to a specific page on your site

From the site design menu, you can select the layout tab and select from the dropdown menu which page you want to add the custom code to.

After selecting which specific page to which you want to add the custom code, you will need to add a section and select custom HTML.

There you can also click on the custom HTML section, and a box will open to add your HTML code. You will also have the option of selecting if you want the section to be full-width or not.

Additionally, you can select where you want the custom HTML section to be by clicking and dragging the custom HTML section above or below any other sections on that specific page.

Cookie Policy Compliance

If you use custom code on your Fourthwall site that requires cookies, then the Fourthwall cookie policy banner will not take those into account. To make sure you stay in compliance, you have two options:

  • Update your custom code to respect the consent given by the visitor. This consent is stored in the `cc_cookie`
  • Remove your custom code and use only Apps and the Analytics section of the Site designer

You can read more about cookie policy banners in this help article
