This guide will walk you through best practices when creating art for kiss cut stickers and kiss cut sticker sheets for your shop.
Stickers are a great way to add a personal touch to your shop while giving your fans a cool way to show support and promote your brand. On our product catalog we offer two on-demand sticker options: 1) kiss cut stickers and 2) sticker sheet with kiss cut stickers.
Kiss cut definition: the sticker will be cut around the shape of the art you use for the sticker. If multiple art are placed around, it will cut each one separately.
With kiss cut stickers, you have the options of 3 sizes of printable area that can be used for a single sticker or multiple smaller ones. On the other hand, the sticker sheet only comes in one size for multiple stickers of various sizes and you have the option of customizing the background of the sheet.
Tip: For kiss cut stickers, we recommend using the full printable area
We recommend you follow the guidelines below when creating your sticker art files:
- Use high-resolution PNG or JPEG images - The quality of your final sticker will depend on the quality of the art file you provide. Make sure your images are at least 300 dpi for best results. We recommend using PNG for designs with a transparent background. For other designs, we advise preparing files in JPEG instead.
- Create files with sRGB color profile - To ensure your design looks the same when printed as it does on screen, make sure you create your print file in an sRGB color profile.
- Keep the cut line in mind - Kiss cut stickers are cut to the shape of your design, so make sure there is a clear boundary between the design and the background.
- Avoid small details - Kiss cut stickers are cut using a blade, so small details may not come out as crisp as they would with a larger design. If you have small details in your design, consider making them slightly larger to ensure they are cut cleanly. Leave at least 0.25'' (0.64 cm) space between the objects that need to be cut separately.
- Please note that the sticker paper is white, and a transparent background isn't possible.
- Fill the whole sheet of paper - If your designs leave the borders of the sticker sheet unused, the excess paper will be cut off to save paper.
- For the sticker sheet only - Make sure not to place your sticker designs too close to the elements of the background design which you want to display, as there's a risk they might overlap and print as one sticker.
Tips for best results:
- Submit a clean design - When making a print file with a transparent background, make sure there are no rogue pixels still visible outside the outline of your piece. Even the slightest detail will be picked up, printed, and cut as a separate element on the sticker sheet.
- Try out transparent details - If you wish to have stickers with cut-out elements (e.g., donut with an empty middle), make them part of the design you wish to have cut out fully transparent, and have enough space (at least 0.25'' (0.64 cm)) for the white border.
