Calendar Artwork Guide

Prepare dated calendar artwork from the right template, or design your own dates

Calendar (2027) and Wall Calendar (2027) artwork starts with the manufacturer template for that calendar. Keep the template's canvas size, keep important details away from the edges, and export a clean file with the guides removed. To design your own date layout, use Wall Calendar (Blank).

Calendar products and their pages​

Calendar (2027), Wall Calendar (2027) and Wall Calendar (Blank) are separate catalog products:

  • Calendar (2027). Monthly date grids with a large image for each month. Holidays aren't marked.
  • Wall Calendar (2027). A customizable cover plus twelve monthly pages. Monthly dates are added automatically.
  • Wall Calendar (Blank). A customizable cover plus twelve blank pages with no preset dates.

To start designing, open the Product catalog, choose your calendar, and select Design now.

Download the matching calendar template​

Calendar (2027) and Wall Calendar (2027) each have a manufacturer template you can download:

  • Calendar (2027). Calendar template (ZIP). It includes separate cover and month guides in PNG and PSD format. Use the cover guide for the cover and the month guide for each monthly page.
  • Wall Calendar (2027). Wall Calendar template (ZIP). It includes cover and month PNG pairs labeled by size, plus a PSD. Use the pair that matches the size you selected and the page you're designing.

These templates are guides for placing your artwork, not finished files to upload.

What size should calendar artwork be?​

Calendar (2027) and Wall Calendar (2027) artwork should keep the native canvas size of its matching template. The template canvas is the print file size, which is different from the finished size of the calendar. Design on the template canvas as it is, and don't rebuild it from the size shown in the catalog.

Export settings for dated calendars​

Calendar (2027) and Wall Calendar (2027) artwork must be a PNG or JPG file at 300 DPI (dots per inch) or higher, in the sRGB color profile. Use PNG if your artwork has transparency. Otherwise, either format works, and neither prints better than the other.

Keep important details in the safe area​

On Calendar (2027) and Wall Calendar (2027), keep text, graphics and other important details inside the template's safe print area, away from the edges. For an edge-to-edge design, cover the full print area with your background.

Remove template guides before you export​

Guide layers and instructions in the Calendar (2027) and Wall Calendar (2027) templates print if you leave them in your file. Hide or delete every guide layer before you export, then save your finished artwork as its own PNG or JPG.

How dates print on dated calendars​

Dates on Calendar (2027) and Wall Calendar (2027) print on top of your artwork with a low-opacity background, and you can't change them. Your artwork can cover the whole sheet, and any area it doesn't cover prints white.

Make your own date grid with Wall Calendar (Blank)​

Wall Calendar (Blank) is the calendar to use when you want your own date layout. It has a customizable cover and twelve blank pages with no preset dates, so you design each month's full layout as part of your artwork.
