Submit your Fourthwall site to Google Search Console

How to submit your domain for SEO and indexing

If you’ve recently launched your Fourthwall store or connected a custom domain, it can take some time for your site to appear in Google search results. This is normal. Search engines need to crawl, process, and index your pages before they show up publicly.

This guide explains:

  • What to expect after launching your store
  • How to submit your domain to Google Search Console
  • How indexing works on Fourthwall
  • Common issues and how to troubleshoot them

How search indexing works

Fourthwall automatically handles the technical SEO foundations, including:

  • Sitemap generation
  • Canonical URLs
  • Crawling accessibility
  • Page indexing structure

However, Google controls when and how your pages get indexed, not Fourthwall.

Typical indexing timeline:

  • New sites take a few days to two (2) weeks
  • Some pages may take longer depending on Google’s crawl schedule

This means even if your site is fully set up, it may not appear in Google search results immediately.

How to submit your domain to Google Search Console

Submitting your domain helps Google discover and index your store faster.

Step 1: Add Your Domain to Google Search Console

Step 2: Submit your sitemap

Fourthwall automatically generates your sitemap.

Use this format:

https://yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml

  • Open Google Search Console
  • Go to Sitemaps
  • Paste your sitemap URL
  • Click Submit

This helps Google crawl your store faster.

Why Google shows a “fourthwall.com” subdomain in results

You may see links like:

yourstore-shop.fourthwall.com

This is a hidden system subdomain used internally by Fourthwall. Visitors will always land on your custom domain, which does not hurt SEO. Google will eventually prioritize your main domain, so you don't need to do anything here.

SEO limitations

Currently, Fourthwall does not offer manual SEO keyword fields. Instead, SEO is driven by:

  • Product titles
  • Product descriptions
  • Page content
  • Collection names
tip

Best practice:

Write clear, descriptive product titles and descriptions that real humans would search for. SEO robots appreciate human language more than keyword soup.

Troubleshooting checklist

If your store still isn’t appearing after 2 weeks:

  • Confirm your domain is connected correctly
  • Confirm your site is set to public
  • Submit your sitemap
  • Request indexing for key pages

If all of the above checks out, indexing delays are almost always on Google’s side.
