Account Access: Login Issues, Password Reset, and Email Changes

Updated July 30, 2026

Can't get into your dashboard or getting logged out often? Here are the fixes for the most common account access issues.

Sign in from a new device (verification codes)

When you sign in from a device or browser Fourthwall hasn't seen before, we email a 6-digit verification code to the email address registered on your account. Enter it once and that device is trusted, so you won't be asked again on it.

Two things to know:

  • Codes are single-use and short-lived. If a code doesn't work, request a fresh one from the login screen instead of reusing an older email.
  • Signing in with Google or Apple does not skip the code. The code verifies the device, not your password, so you'll still get one on a new device. Use the same social button you originally signed up with — if your account was created with Continue with Google, email and password won't work, because there's no Fourthwall password on that account.

The verification code isn't arriving

Work through these in order:

  1. Check spam, junk, and Promotions. The code is an automated email and often lands there. Search your mailbox for "Fourthwall" rather than scrolling.

  2. Clear your cookies and cache for fourthwall.com, then request a new code and sign in again. A stale session is the most common cause of a code that looks like it never arrived. See Cached credentials below for how to clear them.

  3. Check whether your email provider is blocking the message. Some providers refuse automated sign-in mail, so resending won't help:

    • University, alumni, or corporate addresses (for example .edu) are often forwarding relays rather than real mailboxes, and they routinely drop automated mail. Sign in with Google or Apple if that address is backed by one, or use Forgot password? instead, which sends a different email that some relays allow through.
    • Free ProtonMail accounts restrict mail from third-party registrations. In your Proton settings, add a verified recovery email or phone number, then request a fresh code and try again. Signing in with Google or Apple also avoids email delivery entirely.
    • Apple's "Hide My Email" private relay addresses don't reliably receive the code. Contact support@fourthwall.com — the delivery steps above won't help here.
  4. Still nothing? Contact support@fourthwall.com and mention which steps you already tried and which email provider you use, so the team doesn't repeat them.

note

If you no longer have access to the email address registered on your account, the steps above can't help. Contact support@fourthwall.com. Because this is the path an account takeover would use, the team will need to verify your identity before making any change — see Recover access to a locked account.

If you get in but keep getting logged out, or sign-in loops back to the login screen, that's a different problem — see Fix dashboard sessions logging out frequently.

Reset your password

If you've forgotten your password, go to the login screen and click Forgot password?. Enter your account email and Fourthwall sends a reset link. The link expires after 5 minutes, so use it right away.

For full reset steps and troubleshooting, see Reset your password.

note

If you signed up with Google or Apple, Fourthwall doesn't manage your password. Reset it directly through your Google account or Apple ID, then log in using that social option.

Change your account email address

Your email address is not directly editable in your account settings. To change the email associated with your Fourthwall account, invite your new email address as a team member, then remove the old one:

  1. Go to Settings > Team in your dashboard.
  2. Invite your new email address as a Super Admin team member.
  3. Accept the invitation from your new email's inbox.
  4. Log in with the new email and remove the old email from the team.

For detailed step-by-step instructions, see Update your site email address.

If you need help with this process, contact support@fourthwall.com and the team can assist you directly.

Recover access to a locked account

How you recover depends on why you're locked out:

note

For the two cases where you can't receive mail at your account address — a lost 2FA method, or no access to the account email — support will need to verify your identity before changing anything. Expect to be asked for details only the account owner would know, such as information about recent orders or payouts. This protects your shop: it's the same route someone attempting a takeover would try. Account information is only ever released to the account's Super Admin, and ownership transfers are always handled by support rather than being self-service.

Fix dashboard sessions logging out frequently

If your dashboard session keeps expiring, these are the most common causes:

Third-party cookie blocking

Most browsers block third-party cookies by default, which can interrupt your Fourthwall session. Add fourthwall.com as an allowed site in your browser's privacy settings:

  • Chrome: Go to Settings > Privacy and security > Third-party cookies and allow fourthwall.com.
  • Safari: Go to Settings > Safari > Privacy and disable Prevent cross-site tracking, or add an exception for fourthwall.com.
  • Firefox: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Enhanced Tracking Protection and set it to Standard (not Strict).

Incognito or private browsing

Incognito mode doesn't save session data between windows. Switch to a regular browser window and your session will persist normally.

Cached credentials

Outdated cached data can cause login loops. Clear your browser's cookies and cache for fourthwall.com, then log in again. In most browsers: go to Settings > Clear browsing data and select cookies and cached images.

Multiple accounts

If you have more than one Fourthwall account, confirm you're logging into the correct one. Check which email address you're using.

Browser compatibility

The Fourthwall dashboard works best in up-to-date versions of:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Safari
  • Microsoft Edge

If you're on an older browser version, you may see login or display issues. Update your browser and try again. If problems persist after updating, try a different supported browser.

Frequently asked questions

Can I have two Fourthwall accounts with the same email?

It depends on what you're setting up. If you sign up for a second shop using the same email and password as your existing account, Fourthwall adds the new shop as a second storefront under one login, and you can switch between them from the dashboard. If you sign up with a different email, that creates a separate Fourthwall account, not a second storefront on your existing login.

To access two separate-email accounts from a single login, have one account invite the other as a Super Admin team member. See Manage team roles and permissions in Fourthwall.

Go back to the login screen, click Forgot password? again, and request a new link. Open it immediately — reset links expire after 5 minutes.

I signed up with Google but now I can't log in. What do I do?

Check that your Google account is still active and that you're selecting the correct Google account at login. If you've changed your Google email address, contact support@fourthwall.com to reconnect it.

I signed in with Google, so why is Fourthwall asking me for a code?

The verification code confirms the device, not your password, so it's sent whenever you sign in somewhere new — including with Google or Apple. It goes to the email address registered on your account, which is usually your Google or Apple address. See Sign in from a new device.

My work or school email isn't receiving the verification code. Why?

University, alumni, and many corporate addresses are forwarding relays rather than real mailboxes, and they commonly drop automated sign-in mail. Resending won't help. Sign in with Google or Apple if that address is backed by one, or use Forgot password? instead. See The verification code isn't arriving.

Does clearing cookies log me out of everything?

Clearing cookies for fourthwall.com logs you out of the dashboard. You'll need to log back in. Your shop data, products, and orders are not affected.
