How to Transfer Store Ownership

Updated April 14, 2026

Store ownership transfer is handled by Fourthwall support, not through the dashboard

Transferring a store to a new owner is not a self-service action. There is no dashboard setting for this. To move a Fourthwall store to a different account, you contact support@fourthwall.com with details about both the current and new owner, and Fourthwall handles the transfer.

What transfers and what doesn't

When a store is transferred, all shop-level content moves to the new owner's account.

What transfers:

  • All products (including designs, variants, and inventory settings)
  • Order history
  • Shop settings (theme, branding, domain configuration)
  • App connections and integrations tied to the shop
  • Membership tiers and member records

What the new owner needs to set up after the transfer:

  • Payout account (Stripe Connect): Stripe accounts are linked to individual identity, not the shop. The new owner must connect their own Stripe account to receive payouts. Until they do, payouts cannot be processed.
  • Team members: Review and update any team member access for the new ownership structure.
  • Integrations requiring personal credentials: Some integrations (YouTube, Twitch) use the creator's personal platform account. The new owner needs to reconnect these with their own credentials.

What the outgoing owner loses:

  • Access to the store dashboard
  • Any future payouts from the shop
  • Any connected app permissions tied to their personal accounts

How to request a transfer

Contact support@fourthwall.com with the following information:

  1. The email address on the current owner's Fourthwall account
  2. The email address on the new owner's Fourthwall account (they must already have a Fourthwall account, or create one first)
  3. Confirmation that both parties agree to the transfer

Fourthwall will verify both accounts and confirm the transfer request before proceeding. Once verified, Fourthwall completes the transfer and the new owner gains full access to the dashboard.

caution

Important: Make sure the new owner has created their Fourthwall account before you submit the request. The transfer cannot proceed if the destination account doesn't exist yet.

After the transfer

Once the transfer is complete, the new owner should:

  1. Log in to the dashboard and confirm full access to products, orders, and settings.
  2. Connect a Stripe account to enable payouts. Go to Settings > Billing and payouts > Set up your payouts.
  3. Reconnect any platform integrations that require personal credentials (YouTube, Twitch, TikTok).
  4. Review team member access and update roles as needed.

The outgoing owner's access is removed as part of the transfer. If they had payouts set up, those are disconnected when the Stripe account is unlinked.

Frequently asked questions

Can I transfer a store to someone who doesn't have a Fourthwall account?

No. The new owner must have an active Fourthwall account before the transfer can proceed. Ask them to sign up at fourthwall.com first, then submit the transfer request.

How long does a transfer take?

Fourthwall support handles transfers manually. After both parties are verified, the transfer is typically completed within a few business days. Response times may vary.

Can I transfer just the products, not the whole store?

No. Ownership transfers move the entire store. There is no way to transfer individual products between separate accounts.

What happens to active memberships during a transfer?

Active memberships remain associated with the shop after the transfer. Existing members keep their access. The new owner takes over management of all membership tiers and billing.

Can I transfer a store and keep my payout history?

Payout history is tied to the Stripe account, which stays with the original owner. The new owner starts fresh with their own Stripe Connect account and their own payout history.
