Get started with Fourthwall Memberships: create tiers, set up perks, and prepare to launch

With Fourthwall Memberships, you can offer your community a truly seamless all-in-one experience by bringing together your homepage, shop, and members-only hub in a single place, all 100% branded to you. You have full flexibility to design a membership offering that works for you – from passive-only “merch club” tools like members-only products and discounts to a powerful homebase for hosting exclusive content and engaging your community, we give you the creative control to delight your members and reach your goals.  

Getting started

Enable Memberships on your Fourthwall Account

From your dashboard, head to Memberships > Overview. This tab is your home base for all things Memberships. Here you will find your onboarding checklist, which guides you through the most important steps to get started. You can manage your Memberships and access other important sections using the left-hand navigation menu.

• Posts - Publish and manage members-only posts
• Messages - Use Fourthwall's messaging capabilities to communicate with your members directly
• Video Series - Build and share video collections for members
• Members - View, manage, and engage with your member list
• Perks & tiers - Create and customize membership tiers and perks
• Settings - Configure badges, welcome posts, mobile app access, and more

Create tiers

Tiers are different levels your supporters can join to access exclusive perks. You can set up as many tiers as you like, but be sure to consider what your supporters will find valuable and what is sustainable for you to offer. Each tier unlocks specific perks.

• You must create at least one tier to launch.
• Add, edit, or delete tiers under Memberships > Perks & tiers.

Examples:

• Single-tier, “merch club” model: members-only discounts, products, or Discord access (low maintenance).
• Three-tier model: three levels with a mix of content, events, and perks to match supporter interest.

Create perks

Perks are the unique benefits you offer within each tier. They can be: 

• Passive (like exclusive products and discounts, meaning they don’t require extra work from you)
• Active (like access to exclusive content or events)
• Somewhere in between (like polls or AMAs to build community and drive engagement)

The right perks strategy depends on you, your goals, your bandwidth, and what you think will resonate most with your supporters.

Available perk types:

• Custom perk - Maximum flexibility to customize your membership offering based on your brand, community, and goals
• Discord - Grant special roles and access to your members in your Discord server
• Members-only discounts - Reward your members with exclusive promotions on the products in your shop
• Members-only products - Offer a new level of exclusivity to your most loyal community members

• Private audio RSS feed - Allow your members to easily access all of your audio posts in a centralized place

Create your first post

Give your members something to look forward to by adding your very first members-only post. This can be as simple as a welcome message, a teaser about what’s coming, or your first piece of exclusive content.

Ideas for your first post:

• A short “Welcome to Memberships!” note to set the tone
• Behind-the-scenes content or a sneak peek of your next project
• A poll to ask members what kind of perks or content they’re most excited about
• A teaser trailer, draft, or early-access version of upcoming work

Your first post doesn’t need to be elaborate. It’s about showing your members what to expect and making them feel part of something special from day one!

Add Memberships to your homepage

If you’re still reading, you’ve made it to the last step – that means you’re so close to finalizing your very own membership offering. 

Once you’ve created at least one tier and added perks, supporters will be able to view your offerings and subscribe from yourshopname.com/supporters/pricing. However, it’s important to build awareness and excitement among supporters by making it visible on your homepage.

1. From your dashboard, click Add Memberships to your homepage. You'll be prompted about these actions:
   • Add Memberships to your menu
   • Add Memberships to your homepage

2. Click Confirm changes to apply these changes to your site. You can customize these right away or later.

   

Customize how Memberships appear

Once you’ve completed this process, you can edit how Memberships appear on your homepage anytime. To do this, follow these steps:

• Menu: Go to Site design > Pages to edit the “Members only” menu and its sub-items (Feed, Videos, Perks). Rename, reposition, add more sub-items, or delete them as needed.

  

• Homepage section: Go to Site design > Layout > Membership tiers to adjust how your tiers are displayed.

  

Launching your Memberships

Your setup is complete, and it's time to go live! Build momentum by:

• Posting exclusive content to welcome members
• Featuring Memberships in homepage banners or announcements
• Running promotions to encourage early signups
