Posts, promotions, and other best practices for a successful Memberships launch
If you’ve created your first tier(s) and perks and added your membership offerings to your homepage, you’re almost ready to take your community engagement to the next level by launching Memberships. In this article, we’ll walk you through the basics of creating content and enabling discounts so you can build hype and hit the ground running once the word is out.
Creating content
There’s no requirement to create content as part of your membership offering, but having at least one post is a great way to make members feel welcome and ensure a quality experience. Whether you plan to regularly share exclusive posts, videos, and audio with your members, or you’re taking a more passive approach, it’s good to know the basics. Let’s dive in.
Adding a welcome post
A welcome post is displayed to new members when they join a tier. This message is displayed at the top of the Members’ Feed for 24 hours, can be dismissed at any time, and is always accessible from the supporters’ Perks tab.
To configure your supporters’ welcome post-experience, go to Memberships → Settings → Welcome message and select from one of the following options:
- Don’t use welcome post: no welcome post will be displayed
- Use the same welcome post for each tier: the same welcome post will be displayed for all members
Use different welcome posts for each tier: customize a different welcome post for members based on their tier
If you choose to create a welcome post, a content modal will appear, allowing you to choose from three post types:
- Text: regular text post
- Image: a post with an image
- Video: a post with a video
Once you’re done, click “Save” to publish your post.
Creating posts
From your dashboard, head to Memberships → Posts and select “Create new post” to begin adding content to your members-only hub. You can choose from text, images, video, audio posts, or even add polls.
Each post allows you to customize the following:
- Post title
- Post description
- Post tags
- Set viewable permissions - all members, selected tiers, or everyone (including free members)
- Notify members about new posts

Enabling annual subscriptions
Annual subscriptions are a great way to incentivize your prospective members to commit to supporting you for a full year. To enable annual subscriptions, head to Memberships → Settings. Check “Offer annual subscription” and set your desired percentage discount value. Once done, the annual price for each tier will be automatically calculated.
Example:
- Monthly price: $10
- Annual discount value: 10%
- Annual price: $10 * 12 months * 90% = $108
Once you’ve enabled annual subscriptions, supporters will be able to choose between a monthly & annual cycle at checkout:
Enabling subscription discounts
To set up one-time discounts for new members, navigate to Memberships → Perks & tiers.
- Select “Edit tier” next to the tier for which you want to create a discount
- Check the box for “Offer one-time discount for new members”
- Set discounts for both monthly and annual subscriptions
- You can select “Make this offer time-limited” to automatically set a specific timeframe when the discount will be active
You’re now ready for take off! Announce your launch to your community members and leverage content and promotions to build hype around your memberships.
