Custom member badges

Boost member engagement with custom badges! Now, you can personalize membership streak badges by creating unique rewards for milestones—like month-streaks, hitting a number of comment goals, or reaching specific membership tiers. It’s a fun way to recognize your community while adding a distinctive flair to your membership experience.

There are two main options for member badges:

  1. Membership streak badge - driven by the length of a member's subscription
  2. Custom badge - driven by your own defined rules/criteria (i.e. specific tier, total number of comments, etc)

Customizing the membership streak badge

A membership streak is a default badge on your membership site. It indicates the length of your members' subscriptions and is displayed next to their nickname in the comments section.

The streak badge is displayed in two ways depending on if it's their first month or not:

  • “New member” - new members still in their first month of subscription
  • “X-month member” - members after their 1st month of subscription

To customize the styling, navigate to Memberships > Settings > Badges and click on the membership streak badge:

This will take you to the membership streak badge customization page:

Badge styling

In this section, you can customize the default badge styling that will apply globally to the membership streak badge.

Customize styling for different streak lengths

This section allows you to set a unique styling for a different membership streak, e.g. New member, 1-month member, 2-month member, etc. To add styling, just click the “Add custom styling” button, and you’ll be presented with a section to define the particular streak length & styling. To add more, just click the “Add another streak” button below.

Once you’ve defined your badge styles, save your changes. Please note that it may take up to 2 minutes for changes to appear on your website.

Creating a new custom badge

On top of customizing the streak badge, you can also create a completely new type of badge. To do so, navigate to Memberships > Settings > Badges & click the “Create a new badge” button. This will take you to the custom badge creation screen:

Here you can define & customize the following items of your custom badge:

  • Badge text
  • Icon
  • Border, Background & Text color
  • “This badge can be earned by members” - define particular criteria for the badge to be earned by your members. You can select from:
    • Being a member of a selected tier
    • Number of comments written
    • Number of likes given
    • Number of likes received
  • “Remove badge when requirements are no longer met” - if you’d like the badge to remain on the member profile even after the requirement is no longer met, you can uncheck this option
  • “Give badge to selected members” - on top of setting criteria for earning a badge, you can define badges that are individually set for selected members

Once saved, please allow up to 2 minutes for changes to be reflected on your website.

Adjusting the number of displayed badges

By default, only one badge is displayed next to your member’s nickname in the comments section, while all the other ones will be hidden behind a “+X” (and also when hovering over the commenter's avatar). However, you can change that number in the Memberships > Settings > Badges screen and scrolling to the bottom:

Managing badges by members

Whenever you create a new badge, it gets added to eligible supporters at the end of their badge list. By default, the membership streak badge is the first one presented in the comments section. However, your supporters can adjust that by going to their Badges tab (in their Profile area) and dragging their badges into the order they would like to display them, with the top one being the main badge shown in the comments section:

Disabling and deleting badges

You can disable or delete your badges at any time by clicking the “...” next to the badge you want to adjust and select between Disable or Delete:

Note: Membership streak badge cannot be deleted, but you can disable it.
