Testing triggers
The testing process for new triggers using real data can be a bit involved a bit involved. If you don't want to go through the whole process of testing with real data, you can use the sample data provided in Zapier by just following steps 1-3.
Step 1: First, select the trigger event. Once selected, hit "Continue"
Step 2: After you hit "Continue," you will be taken to a page to test the trigger. Since you haven't set up any subscriptions, you will likely have no results here. Select "Skip test" for now.
Step 3: Since you won't have any real data, Zapier will use sample data. This is perfectly fine for now, but if you want to use real data through our webhooks system, read on. Press "Continue" for now.
Step 4: Zapier will not subscribe to webhooks until you have published the Zap. So for now, create a dummy action that won't have much effects, like a Slack message.
Step 5: Once you have this dummy action configured, publish the Zap.
Step 6: Once published, go to your developer settings and look for a webhook that matches your event type. Click "Send test notification."
Step 7: Go back to your Zap and click "Edit zap" in the upper right corner.
Step 8: Select test in your donation trigger
Step 9: Select "Test trigger" to refetch your events.
Step 10: Now that you've linked your webhook and sent a test event, you should have real data events here to use as sample data. You can continue from here to set up your automation workflow!
