Learn how you can customize transactional emails and integrate your newsletter in Fourthwall.
In Fourthwall, some emails are sent automatically (like order confirmations and abandoned cart reminders), while newsletters require connecting to a third-party app. This article explains how you can customize transactional emails and set up newsletters using integrations such as Klaviyo or beehiiv.
Understanding the different email types
- Transactional emails (Order confirmations, Shipping Notification, etc.) – By default, these are managed by Fourthwall email templates, but you can customize them if using a third-party email integration.
- Cart abandonment emails – By default, these are managed by Fourthwall email templates, but you can customize them if you use third-party email integration.
- Thank-you emails – Sent automatically after you send a thank-you video. These cannot currently be customized or disabled.
-
Newsletter emails – Not sent by Fourthwall. To create newsletters, connect a third-party app (Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Kit).
- There are two things to know about newsletter "customization":
- Via the Layout tab in the Site designer - Add and modify the Newsletter page section (not the messages/emails).
- Via 3rd party integration - Perform detailed customization of your transactional emails, such as newsletter emails. For reference, check the following help articles:

Connect third-party tools for more customization
If you want to design newsletters, customize transactional messages, or create advanced email flows:
1. Choose an app such as Klaviyo or beehiiv.
2. Follow the steps for connecting it to your Fourthwall site.
3. Once connected, build and send campaigns directly from the third-party platform.
Pro Tips:
- Test before going live: Send test emails to preview how they look on desktop and mobile. Create a free digital or self-fulfilled product to test orders emails.
- Refine your message: Adjust timing, tone, and visuals in your third-party app for best results.
- Keep subject lines short and clear to boost open rates.
- Use thank you messages to show appreciation and encourage repeat visits.
- Mix text, images, and links in newsletters to keep readers engaged.
- Experiment with send times to learn when your audience responds best.
