An abandoned cart email is an email sent to customers who have added products to their shopping cart but failed to complete their checkout. The email acts as a friendly reminder to consumers who may have been distracted and never checked out. With Fourthwall, you get this feature by default; however, if you want to change or control more, you can. Read below to learn more about the various abandoned cart email settings at your disposal.
Why are Abandoned Cart Emails Needed?
Abandoned cart emails are not needed, but highly recommended. These emails remind shoppers of what they left behind and encourage them to return and complete their purchases. A report from Klaviyo revealed that using cart recovery emails earns back 3% to 14% of lost sales.
Abandoned Cart Emails Options
Your Fourthwall shop has a few options for you to choose from:
- Two-email approach (recommended) - Supporters who forgot to checkout would get two separate cart abandonment emails. One is sent an hour after the cart abandonment, and the second one 24 hours after. This is the default option on your Fourthwall site.
- One-email approach - Supporters who forgot to checkout would get only one cart abandonment email an hour after the cart abandonment.
- Off - If a supporter forgets to checkout, no cart abandonment email will be sent
To change or update your abandoned cart settings, within your Fourthwall dashboard, go to Settings > Notifications and look for Email notifications sent to supporters. There, you can uncheck the box if you want to select the off options. Otherwise, you can choose between the two-email or one-email options from the dropdown menu.
What do Abandoned Cart Emails Look Like?
The abandoned cart emails follow a similar look and feel as your other transactional emails (order confirmation, order shipped) from your shop. They are based on your site design, including your logo, shop name, and site colors. You can see an example of the ones from our Fourthwall shop below.
