Buy Now, Pay Later Options

Your supporters have many options to use as payment methods during checkout. One is the Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) payment option via AfterPay and Klarna. This helpful article will go over how to enable BNPL for your Fourthwall site and provide additional details for you to know.

How to enable/disable Buy Now, Pay Later

By default, BNPL is disabled on your shop. To activate, within your Fourthwall dashboard, go to Site settings > Checkout, and there you will see the option to check or uncheck accepting BNPL (see image below).

By accepting BNPL, your supporters will be able to checkout (minimum amount of $10) by paying in installments via AfterPay or Klarna. Giving more flexibility to your supporters and increasing conversion rates.

Approval process of Buy Now, Pay Later

At checkout, if your supporters want to pay using one of the BNPL options, they will have to submit for approval through one of the BNPL providers (AfterPay or Klarna). This happens directly between your supporter and the BNPL provider. Fourthwall does not have any say or insight into the approval process.

Once the supporter is approved by the BNPL provider, the checkout process will be completed, and it will be a fully paid transaction. The supporter will then submit their payment installments directly to the BNPL provider. The contract is between the supporter and the BNPL provider.

Transaction Fee for Buy Now, Pay Later

BNPL providers charge higher transaction fees than other payment options like credit card or PayPal. With BNPL, the payment transaction fee is 6% + $.30 per transaction (and an additional 1% for international supporters). Similar to other payment methods, you cover this transaction fee as the creator. You can read more about transaction fees here

Countries Supported

BNPL providers vary based on the country and currency selected for checkout by the supporter. Your supporters are only shown the option available to them based on location.
