Promotional codes, also known as discount codes, are a great way to incentivize or reward fans. With your Fourthwall shops, you can offer many types of promotions and discounts to your fans.
You can even combine promotional discounts in a few exciting ways for your fans:
- Adding free shipping in addition to a site-wide “percentage off” - you can offer a percentage discount (like 20% off) on your entire shop, plus free shipping.
- Offering free shipping for an individual product - you can offer a free shipping discount for any product (or products) on your Fourthwall shop! Do note that this only applies when all products in a cart are eligible for free shipping.
- Limiting a promotion to a specific country (or countries) - create a promotion to target fans in a specific country (or countries).
Let’s dig a bit more into how to create promo codes and the various settings at your disposal.
To create a promo or discount code, go to your Fourthwall dashboard and click promotions > create promotion > shop promo.
Once in the create promotion screens, there are various sections that you will need to consider.
Promotion type section
Here you can select if you want to use a specific code or word for your promo, if you want to create multiple codes, or if you want the code to be auto-applied during checkout.
Discount section
In this section, you will be able to define the actual discount amount. You can select between the discount being a percentage off, a fixed amount, or free shipping. If you select a percentage off or a fixed amount, you can select how to manage shipping in those cases.
Applies to section
Next, you need to decide if your discount should apply to the entire order or only for specific products. If you want to do specific products, you will be able to select which ones in this section.
Note: When doing free shipping promotions for selected products, all items in the customer’s cart must be included in the promotion for the promotion to apply. If one item in the cart is not eligible for free shipping, the promotion will not be activated. This rule is specific to the free shipping offer and does not impact other types of promotions.
Requirements section (optional)
Here you will be able to decide if you want to require a minimum order value for the code to be used (i.e. spend $200 and get 10% off). Additionally, you can also decide if this promo is only available for specific countries. This will be based on the shipping destination country.
Number of uses section (optional)
Finally, if you want to limit how many times a code is used, click on the box and enter the number of times the code can be used. If you did multiple codes in the promo type section, this would be how many times each individual code can be used. For unlimited use, you can just leave the box unselected.
Once you have selected all the options and clicked save, you will see a pop-up asking you if you want to allow promotions that result in a negative profit. If you select yes, you will need to enter a payment method into your shop settings if you haven’t done so already. If you select no, and your shop balance cannot cover the discount amount, the discount code will be blocked at checkout.
And that is it - as simple as that! With all these options, you will be able to provide a more personalized shopping experience for your fans.
