How do I sell a digital product?

The possibilities with digital products are endless, whether it’s an e-book, an online course, a digital art print, a font pack, etc. Digital products can be created once and sold repeatedly to customers without worrying about inventory or size breakdowns.

With Fourthwall, selling a digital product is easy! You can sell your digital product as a standalone or as part of a bundle with a physical product.

How to create a digital product

1. First, go to your Products tab within your Fourthwall shop, and in the top right corner, click "Create a new product."

2. You will see a pop-up like the image below with various product options, and you want to click on "sell digital product."

Adding digital product details

Set product name and description

  • First, add information like the product name, a product description (optional), and additional sections if you want to add any. In the optional product description, we recommend explaining more about what is in the digital product. For example, if it's a digital CD, include the tracklist in the description. This description will help the supporters understand what they are getting and set the right expectations.

Add digital file

  • The next step is adding the digital file you want your supporters to get when they purchase this product. If you have multiple files as part of this digital product, we recommend saving them as a zip file and uploading the compressed file as a digital product.

Set selling price

  • Choose the price you want to sell this digital product.

Add photos

  • Upload photos of your product by clicking on the “Drop or browse” button. Once they are uploaded, you can drag and drop them to sort the display order. For digital products, you can add an awesome graph showing what it is or an art cover for it.

Set inventory

  • Set Inventory: By default, the “In stock” option is set to "Unlimited". If you want to limit availability, click “Unlimited” to bring up the quantity window. Uncheck Make unlimited and adjust the quantity.

  • Mark as Sold Out: If you want the product to appear as sold out but still visible to customers (to create a sense of urgency for future products), simply check the “Mark as sold out” box.

Set it live!

  • The last step in the process is making your product live! By default, products are hidden, so you can make sure to keep in-progress listings secret. When your masterpiece is ready for the world, simply click the yellow “Hidden” button in the top right corner, select “Public” and then click “Save”!
