The possibilities with digital products are endless, whether it’s an e-book, an online course, a digital art print, a font pack, etc. Digital products can be created once and sold repeatedly to customers without worrying about inventory or size breakdowns.

With Fourthwall, selling a digital product is easy! You can sell your digital product as a standalone or as part of a bundle with a physical product.

Create a digital product

  1. First, go to your Products tab within your Fourthwall shop, and in the top right corner, click "Create a new product."

Add digital product details

Set product name and description

Add or select information like:

  • Product name
  • Product description* (optional)
  • Product category (required for calculating sales tax)
  • Additional sections (as needed)

*We recommend explaining more about what is in the digital product. For example, if it's a digital CD, include the tracklist in the description. This description will help the supporters understand what they are getting and set the right expectations.

Set selling price

Choose the price you want to sell this digital product. Click here for pricing guidelines.

Add digital file

Add the digital file you want your supporters to get when they purchase this product. If you have multiple files as part of this digital product, we recommend saving them as a ZIP (.zip) file and uploading the compressed file as a digital product.

Add photos

Upload photos of your product by clicking on the “Drop or browse” button. Once they are uploaded, you can drag and drop them to sort the display order. For digital products, you can add an awesome graph showing what it is or an art cover for it.

Set inventory

  • Set Inventory: By default, the “In stock” option is set to Unlimited. If you want to limit availability, click the hyperlink to bring up the quantity window. Then, Uncheck Make unlimited and adjust the quantity accordingly.

  • Mark as sold out: If you want the product to appear as sold out but still visible to customers (to create a sense of urgency for future products), simply check the Mark as sold out box.
  • Make it a members-only product: Check the box if you want to make your digital product exclusive to your members. Learn more here.

Manage digital products (tips and reminders)

  • You can include digital files to be packaged with your physical products.
  • You can also update files anytime by editing the product and re-uploading the file. Customers who previously purchased will automatically get access to the new version.
  • Changing the product name requires an update to the digital product URL, and you will be prompted to do this each time.
  • If you have several digital products to showcase on your site, it's best to do so using Collections.

Can I use sample credits for my digital products?

No — sample credits cannot be used on digital products. They only apply to physical products that can be produced and shipped.

If your shop is currently digital-only, your sample credits will remain unused until you add physical products. Once added, you can apply your existing credits to order pre-production samples.
