Set up and sell gift cards for your shop
Updated April 28, 2026
Create and sell digital gift cards so your supporters can share your shop with others
Gift cards let supporters purchase digital credit that can be redeemed for any product you sell. You can create gift cards, view balances, and manage redemptions directly from your Fourthwall dashboard.
Creating a Gift card
Creating a gift card is as easy as creating a product. To start, within your Fourthwall dashboard, navigate to the Products tab and click "Create new product". Then you want to click "Sell gift cards".

This will bring you to the gift card details page. You can now add the details for the gift card.
- Gift card product name - you can name your gift card with a name of your choosing.
- Description - add more details about your gift card

Next, select the gift card values you want to offer. You can decide to sell the same value per gift card listing, i.e. $50, or you can have multiple options of values for the supporters to select from, i.e. $25, $50, $100 value gift cards. To add additional value options, just click on "add another value."

Personalize the gift card with an image to use as its cover!

Finally, you have the option of marking a product as sold out manually or making it available only to members as a members-only product.

And as simple as that, you can now offer gift cards to your supporters!

Important additional details:
- Gift card balance does not expire.
- The supporter can redeem the gift card in multiple orders until the balance is entirely spent. They can also redeem multiple gift cards in the same order.
- Supporters cannot reload gift cards. If the gift card balance cannot cover the whole order, a supporter would need to pay any amount not covered by the gift card.
- The balance on the gift card is in USD. Any purchases made in currencies other than USD will be converted to USD.
- Gift cards can only be used for your Fourthwall site and cannot be used for other shops across Fourthwall.
How gift cards affect your profit margin
Gift cards have no production or fulfillment cost, so when a supporter buys one, you keep the full purchase price minus payment processing fees. This makes gift cards one of the highest-margin products you can offer.
The cost comes later, when the recipient redeems the gift card to buy a product. At that point, the base cost of the product (manufacturing, shipping, and any applicable fees) is deducted from your earnings as it would be for any regular order. The gift card simply replaces the supporter's payment method.
Here's an example of how the economics work:
- A supporter buys a $50 gift card from your shop. You earn $50 minus payment processing (approximately $48.55 after standard fees).
- The recipient redeems the gift card to buy a t-shirt you priced at $30 with a base cost of $12. Your profit on that order is $18 ($30 minus $12), the same as any regular sale.
- The recipient still has $20 remaining on the gift card for future purchases.
Gift cards are a low-risk way to boost revenue, especially during holidays and special events. Since there's no inventory to manage and no upfront production cost, every gift card sale generates immediate cash flow for your shop.
How gift cards are delivered to supporters
When a supporter purchases a gift card from your shop, it's delivered instantly after checkout. They'll receive a dedicated email with their unique gift card code, and they can also access it anytime from the order confirmation page. Here's how they can access it:
Order Confirmation Page - View gift card
After completing their order, supporters are directed to the order confirmation page where they'll see a "View gift card" link. Clicking this link opens the Gift card balance check screen.

This will direct them to the gift card balance check screen, all branded to your shop. Here, they can view the original gift card value, remaining balance, and their unique gift card code, as well as click "Shop now" to start using it.

Gift card email delivery
Supporters also receive a dedicated email immediately after purchasing a gift card. This email includes their unique gift card code and links to your shop, along with an option to view their remaining balance. See below for an example of what the gift card email looks like.
