Managing Orders: Status, Edits, and Common Issues

Updated April 23, 2026

Your complete reference for order statuses, editing windows, cancellations, and bulk fulfillment tools

Every order in your Fourthwall shop follows a lifecycle from placement through delivery. Knowing where an order stands helps you decide what actions are still available, whether that is editing the shipping address, cancelling an item, or uploading tracking numbers in bulk.

Order statuses

Your dashboard shows the following statuses as an order moves from checkout to completion:

  • Order placed. The customer has completed checkout. Payment is authorized and the order is waiting to enter production.
  • Partially in production. Some items in the order have entered production while others are still waiting.
  • In production. All items are being manufactured or prepared for shipment.
  • Partially shipped. At least one shipment has left the fulfillment center, but other items are still in production or awaiting pickup.
  • Shipped. All shipments for the order are in transit.
  • Partially delivered. Some shipments have been delivered while others are still on the way.
  • Delivered. The carrier has confirmed delivery of all shipments.
  • Completed. The order is fully finished and no further action is needed.
  • Canceled. The order has been canceled and any applicable refunds have been issued.
note

Multi-item orders can move through the "partially" statuses when different products have different production or shipping timelines. Each shipment progresses independently.

When can you edit an order?

You can edit an order's shipping address or items only while it is still in the pre-fulfillment window, before production begins or a shipping label is purchased.

Once an order reaches Shipped, Delivered, Completed, or Canceled status, address edits are locked. At that point, you would need to either cancel and re-create the order or contact the carrier directly for a delivery intercept.

How to edit the shipping address

  1. Go to Orders in your dashboard.
  2. Click the order you want to update.
  3. Click Edit shipping address.
  4. Enter the corrected details and click Update shipping details.
tip

Always edit addresses in Fourthwall so fulfillment records and customer notifications stay in sync.

Customer self-service address changes

Customers can update their street address and number for a short window after placing an order, before production starts. City, country, and zip code changes are blocked because those fields affect tax calculation. If a customer needs to change those fields, cancel the order and have them place a new one.

For step-by-step details on modifying order items, variants, and refunds, see Update order details.

Cancel an order

You can cancel an order as long as all fulfillments have not yet shipped. If every shipment has already left the fulfillment center, cancellation is no longer available.

Full cancellation

  1. Go to Orders in your dashboard.
  2. Open the order and click the three-dot menu.
  3. Select Cancel items and confirm the cancellation.

The customer receives a refund to their original payment method. Processing time depends on their bank or payment provider.

Partial cancellation

For orders with multiple items, you can cancel individual items without canceling the entire order. Partial cancellation is available when the order is in Partially in production, Partially shipped, or Partially delivered status. Only items that have not yet shipped can be canceled.

  1. Open the order from Orders.
  2. Click the three-dot menu and select Cancel items.
  3. Choose the specific items to cancel and confirm.

Upload fulfillment tracking via CSV

For self-fulfilled and externally fulfilled orders, you can upload tracking numbers in bulk using a CSV file.

  1. Go to Orders and click the To Be Shipped tab to reach the Fulfillment page.
  2. Click Download CSV of unshipped orders to get a list of orders waiting for tracking data.
  3. Open the CSV and fill in the Carrier Code (e.g., FedEx, USPS, UPS) and Tracking Number for each row. For items shipped by mail without tracking, use Letter as the carrier code and Untracked as the tracking number.
  4. Save the file as CSV.
  5. Return to the Fulfillment page and drag your CSV into the upload area, or click Upload CSV with tracking information.

Once uploaded, Fourthwall sends automated shipping notifications to customers as soon as the carrier scans the package.

For a full walkthrough with screenshots and troubleshooting, see Upload tracking numbers for self-fulfilled orders.

Export orders to CSV

You can download your complete order history as a CSV file from the Orders page. Click Export orders in the upper-right corner to download. The export includes all order types (product orders, samples, donations, and Twitch gifts) regardless of any active filters.

For details on the exported fields and troubleshooting, see Export orders.

Sales channels

Orders can arrive from several sources, and your dashboard labels each order with its sales channel:

  • Online Store. Orders placed directly on your Fourthwall shop.
  • TikTok. Orders from your TikTok Shop integration.
  • Meta. Orders from Facebook or Instagram commerce.
  • External Marketplace. Orders from other connected marketplaces.

Knowing the sales channel helps you understand where your customers are discovering your products and can inform how you promote across platforms.

Frequently asked questions

Can I cancel an order after it has shipped?

No. Once all shipments for an order have left the fulfillment center, cancellation is not available through the dashboard. You would need to contact the carrier for a delivery intercept or wait for delivery and then arrange a return.

What is the difference between "Shipped" and "Delivered"?

Shipped means the carrier has accepted all packages and they are in transit. Delivered means the carrier has confirmed that all packages arrived at the shipping address.

Can customers cancel their own orders?

Yes. Customers can request a cancellation from their order confirmation page, as long as the order has not entered production or shipped.

Why does my order show "Partially in production"?

This means some items in the order have started production while others are still queued. Different products may have different production timelines, especially when an order mixes on-demand items with self-fulfilled or Bespoke Products.

Can I edit an order after it enters production?

Address edits remain available until the order reaches Shipped status. Item-level edits (changing variants, removing items) are only possible before production begins.
