Update your self-fulfillment shipping dates

Updated May 5, 2026

Set shipping expectations upfront and keep customers informed when timelines change.

When you create a "sell something I have" product, Fourthwall requires you to set a shipping days range. This tells customers how long to expect before their order ships. If production timelines change or delays come up, you can edit the shipping timeframes and automatically notify everyone affected.

How to edit product shipping times

Within your dashboard go to the product listings for the items you are self-fulfilling. Each product has a shipping days range in the Shipping section of that product listing.

Shipping section with weight, ship date, and date range fields

The shipping timeframe you set here drives the Delivery promised by column in Orders > To be shipped. When you change a product's shipping range, that updated date becomes the new delivery deadline shown next to each open order for that product. For more on how this column appears in the dashboard, see Ship from Home.

Once you update the dates there, the "Apply this change for current unfulfilled orders of this product" option appears. This will give you the opportunity to apply updated dates for new orders and prior orders that have yet to be fulfilled by you.

You will also have the option to let customers know about the new estimated delivery date along with the reason behind the delay. You can add this description in the "Reason" field. Letting customers know about the new delivery date is optional, but highly encouraged as this helps minimize frustrated customers by being communicative about the reason and the updated shipping dates for their order.

Options to apply changes to unfulfilled orders and notify customers

If you have selected to notify customers, the system automatically sends them an email notification with an updated shipping timeline for their orders and the delay reason, if available. See the image below for an example of this email.

Repeat these steps for any other self-fulfilled products experiencing the same delay.

Shipping deadline reminders

Fourthwall sends you an email reminder 2 days before the Delivery promised by deadline on any open self-fulfilled order. The email lists the orders that are about to come due so you can ship them on time.

To turn these reminders off, go to Settings > Account notifications > Self-fulfillment shipping reminders in your dashboard and toggle the option off.
