Preview and publish site changes

Preview your changes, then click Save to go live
Changes you make in Site design are not live right away. You can preview your work before making it visible to customers. When you're ready, click Save to publish your changes.
For example, if you update your announcement bar text or swap a hero image, that edit lives only inside the designer until you click Save. Your customers keep seeing the old version until you publish.
A change in the designer is not the same as a change on your live shop. Even after you type new text, upload an image, or move a section, the edit stays in draft form until you click Save. If you asked support or the AI assistant to update something and it still isn't showing on your shop, the change is likely saved as a draft and needs to be published.
Preview your changes
When you edit anything in Site design, click Preview to see exactly how your site will look to customers.
The preview opens your site with your current edits applied. Nothing is live yet.
Save your changes
When you're happy with how everything looks, click Save to make your changes live.
You can also save directly from the preview screen without returning to the editor first.
Once saved, your changes are visible to all customers immediately.
Discard unsaved changes
If you want to undo changes you haven't saved yet, click Discard. This removes all unsaved edits and reverts the editor to the last saved version of your site.
Important: Discard only removes changes you haven't saved yet. To undo changes that are already live, make new edits and click Save again.
Frequently asked questions
Why aren't my site changes showing up for customers?
Your changes may not be saved yet. In the site designer, click Save to make your changes live. If you already clicked Save and changes still aren't appearing, try clearing your browser cache or waiting a few minutes for the update to propagate.
What is the difference between Save and the Live/Coming Soon toggle?
The Save button in the site designer publishes your design changes (layout, colors, fonts, sections) to your live site. The Live/Coming Soon toggle in your shop settings controls whether your entire shop is visible to customers. You can save design changes at any time, but customers only see them when your shop status is set to Live.
What happens if I close the editor without saving?
Any unsaved changes are lost. The editor reverts to the last saved state. Click Save before closing if you want to keep your work and make it live.
