Customize collection page templates
Updated April 29, 2026
Give each collection page its own layout, sections, and content without affecting any other collection
By default, all your collection pages share the same layout. Collection page templates let you build a distinct design for individual collections. A "Hats" collection can have a hero banner and editorial text, while a "T-Shirts" collection shows a clean product grid with no extras. Each collection gets exactly what it needs.
What is a collection page template
A collection page template controls the layout and sections shown on a collection's listing page, the page a supporter lands on when they click a collection. This is separate from product view templates, which control individual product pages.
You can add any of the following sections to a collection template:
- Product grid — the main grid of products in the collection
- Featured products — spotlight specific products with images and calls to action
- Hero banner — a full-width image or video header for the collection
- Text — headings, body copy, and rich text blocks
- Images — standalone image sections
- Video — embedded video sections
- Newsletter — an email signup section
- Custom HTML — embed third-party code or custom markup
Step 1: Open collection templates
In your Fourthwall dashboard, go to Site design > Pages.
Find the Collections section. You will see the existing collection templates listed here. Every shop starts with a default template that applies to all collection pages.
Step 2: Create or duplicate a template
You have two options:
Create a new template from scratch. Click Add template (or the + button) in the Collections section. Give the template a descriptive name, such as "Hats" or "Featured Drops."
Duplicate an existing template. Click the three-dot menu next to any existing template and select Duplicate. This copies all sections from the original, giving you a head start on a similar layout.
Step 3: Customize the template sections
Click the template name to open it in the editor.
From here, you can:
- Add a section — click Add section and choose from the available section types (product grid, hero banner, text, images, video, newsletter, featured products, custom HTML).
- Reorder sections — grab the drag handle next to any section and move it up or down to change the order.
- Edit a section — click the section to open its settings and adjust content, appearance, and layout options.
- Remove a section — open the section and click the three-dot menu, then select Delete.
Every collection template should include at least a Product grid section so supporters can browse and buy products. If you remove the product grid, the collection page will not show any products.
Click Save when you are done editing the template.
Step 4: Assign the template to a collection
Creating a template does not automatically apply it to any collection. You need to assign it.
- In your Fourthwall dashboard, go to Products > Collections.
- Click the collection you want to update.
- Find the Template setting in the collection settings panel.
- Select your new template from the dropdown.
- Click Save.
You can assign the same template to multiple collections. Any collection that does not have a specific template assigned will continue using the default template.
To remove a custom template from a collection, return to its settings and switch the Template dropdown back to the default.
Keep your product grid section near the top of the template so supporters see products immediately without scrolling past large hero banners or text blocks.
