Customize collection lists

Updated August 7, 2026

Organize and style your Collection list section to match your shop's look and feel.

If you haven't added a Collection list to your site yet, start here: How to add a Feature collection or Collection list section to your site

Accessing the Collection list settings

Before you can customize the Collection list, open the settings for that section.

  1. In your Fourthwall dashboard, go to Site design > Layout.

  2. From the drop-down menu, select the page where your Collection list appears (for example, your Homepage or Shop page).

  3. Scroll down to the Collection list section and click it to open the settings.

Changing collection order

You can change the order in which each collection appears in your Collection list section. To rearrange the order, grab the handle on the collection and drag it up or down.

Changing the collection main image

By default, a collection's main image is the first product image in that collection. You can replace it with a custom image that better represents the collection.

Within the Collection list settings, add an image to each collection by dropping it in that area or browsing your files.

In the example below, the Winter Collection uses a wide image, while the Spring Collection uses a 3:4 ratio image. We recommend using the same ratio across all collections for the best visual consistency.

If you have additional Collection list sections, repeat the same process for those as well. Be sure to click Save!

Appearance settings

The Collection list section includes four appearance options that control how your collections are displayed. Find these settings in the Collection list settings panel under the Appearance heading.

Content alignment

Content alignment controls the horizontal alignment of the section heading above your collection grid. Set it to Left, Center, or Right to position the heading text on the page.

note

Content alignment only affects the section heading, not the individual collection title labels that appear beneath each collection image. Those labels are part of the grid item layout and are left-aligned by default.

Collections per row

Collections per row sets how many collection thumbnails appear side by side in each row of the grid. A lower number gives each collection more visual space; a higher number fits more collections above the fold.

Image aspect ratio

Image aspect ratio applies a consistent crop to all collection thumbnails in this section. Choose the ratio that best matches your collection images. We recommend setting a ratio that works for all your collection images so the grid looks uniform.

Show collection titles

Toggle Show collection titles on to display each collection's name below its thumbnail image. Toggle it off to hide the names and show only the images.

Use this setting to control whether collection names appear beneath images. This is separate from Content alignment, which only moves the section heading.

Troubleshooting

Collection names still appear off-center after changing alignment

Content alignment only moves the section heading text, not the collection name labels beneath each image. If you adjusted alignment hoping to center the collection names, that setting won't affect them.

Collection title labels are left-aligned by default as part of the grid item layout. There is no dedicated alignment control for individual collection labels. To hide collection names entirely, turn off Show collection titles in the Appearance settings.
