Ask Eli to build new sections or edit existing ones right inside the Site Designer

Every section in the Site Designer has an Ask for edits button. Use it to describe a change in plain language, and Eli, the Fourthwall AI chatbot, builds or edits the section for you. You can ask for a brand new page section or adjust one that's already on the page.

Before you start​

The Ask for edits button appears when Eli is enabled. Eli is a Fourthwall Pro feature you turn on from Account > AI. For setup steps, see How to Enable or Disable Eli.

Ask for edits on desktop​

On desktop, the Ask for edits button sits in the toolbar overlay that appears when you hover over a section in the Site Designer.

  1. In your Fourthwall dashboard, open Site design > Layout.
  2. Hover over the section you want to change. The inspector toolbar appears at the top of the section.
  3. Click Ask for edits. An inline text input opens in the toolbar.
  4. Type your request and submit it.

Your request opens in Eli with the section already loaded as context, so Eli knows exactly which section to work on. You don't have to describe where the section is or what it currently contains.

Ask for edits on mobile​

On mobile, the Ask for edits field lives in each section's menu.

  1. Open Site design > Layout on your mobile device.
  2. In the Layout panel, tap the three-dot menu on the section you want to change.
  3. Select Ask for edits and enter your request.

Submitting the request opens Eli so you can review and apply the change.

What you can ask for​

Use Ask for edits to build new sections or refine existing ones. For example:

  • Build a new section. Ask Eli to add a section, such as "Add a featured collection below the banner."
  • Edit an existing section. Ask Eli to change the section you selected, such as "Make this banner headline shorter and add a Shop now button."

Because the request carries the section's context, Eli's edits stay focused on the section you picked.

Frequently asked questions​

Why don't I see the Ask for edits button?​

The button appears only when Eli is enabled. Eli is a Fourthwall Pro feature. Go to Account > AI to turn it on, or upgrade to Fourthwall Pro if you're on the free plan.

Can I ask AI to create a section that isn't on the page yet?​

Yes. You can ask Eli to build a new page section, not just edit existing ones. Describe the section you want and Eli adds it for you.

Does Ask for edits work on mobile?​

Yes. On mobile, open the three-dot menu on a section in the Layout panel and select Ask for edits. Submitting your request opens Eli, the same as on desktop.
